About Us
BRIGHT MAMA'S WELFARE (BMW) INC. is a non-profit organization that empowers women by teaching them life skills while, at the same time, providing an opportunity to socialize together and work on their language skills. As we know that our community have so many refugee's and immigrant women living with traumatized experiences from their past like war and being raped.
We focus on providing personalized information, guidance and support services that are carefully designed to meet the diverse needs of immigrant and racialized women and their families. These services are open to newcomer women who are permanent residents, convention refugee and live-in caregivers. We provide important orientation, information, and support to newcomers to Canada. We offer supportive group information sessions on different topics related to health, housing, education, employment, Canadian law, income tax, Child Tax Benefits, immigration, and social assistance. Our organization meet weekly sharing their experiences, learning from one another, and helping each other to overcome the stress of life in a new country and providing support.

We provided opportunities to immigrant and refugees women be successful, stronger, and more harmoniously diverse society. Our organization also present the support for women to overcome the stressful environment they leave behind with the resources, and counselling to overcome their stress.

We believe that unity is power; we are walking together to change our lives; we will be teaching and helping each other. We also believe that wisdom and respect is brightness.
We all want to shine so we walk together with respect and supporting others. We will always bring new ideas to the group and respect everyone's idea. We believe that by being your own hairdresser or the hairdresser for our children and being our own tailor will help us to save more money from our income and reduce poverty.
We also believe that empowering our women to become independent requires learning skills like job searching, interview skills and conversational English to be able to talk to people around us.
Meet The Team
Francine
Francine Ekyemba, Originally from DR Congo where she was working with women and children for more than 5 years in different cities like Tanzania, Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda as a counsellor, providing emotional, physical and spiritual support. Francine has experience working with international organisations from Denmark as a mining expert providing support to different cities and villages in Congo.
A graduate at the University of Saint Boniface in ECE II. (Early Childhood Education II) FRANCINE is a co-founder of BRIGHT MAMAS WELFARE INC. Francine enjoys talking with women and providing support in cooking, reading and helping newcomer women integrate in Canada, she is also a Mother of 6 beautiful children.
Baraka
Baraka Mulimbwa is an immigrant to Canada with 16 years experience in retail business, he understands the struggles that every immigrant face in a new land. Baraka has experience working with people with mental and physical disabilities, Baraka also has helped many successful new businesses achieve new heights like Timely staging and Design and Queenfidence Cosmetics as Senior Marketing Director. Baraka is also a Co-founder of Bright Mamas welfare Inc. where he takes pride in helping new immigrants women settle, get educated, and learning great valuable skills in order to help their families achieve their full potential in Canada. Baraka lives with his wife and children in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.
Rachel
Rachel E. Mubulwa is an immigrant to Canada with a lot of experience working with many women groups and organizations. She was the chair of Wamama Tusimame, where she was the president and field coordinator in the Kakuma Camp in Kenya. Rachel has a passion to see every woman win, advance and achieve their full potential. Rachel is a mother and wife and currently lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
